Until recently, every family would have had a button box, and buttons themselves were a precious commodity. They were used for decorative and practical purposes, and gave an opportunity to show individuality, status or even to send covert messages. In this collection I have used a technique that enables photographic images to be fired onto enamel, and the button designs include images of modern textiles and pictures of antique buttons, which would originally have been kept in these antique boxes.
