The chatelaine was originally worn around the waist, as a way of carrying all the items that the mistress of the house would need in her daily responsibilities. It came to embody a person’s sphere of influence, or even a visual representation of their character and interests. This piece includes items that represent my own narrative, referencing people and places of significance to me.
